Fresno has been up and down this year. This is the streakiest team that the Fresno A's organization has fielded in quite some time, and this final home stand really proved it. The home stand began with a 3-game losing streak in which the team was outscored 41-16, which was immediately followed by a 4-game win streak in which the team whirled 2 shutouts and only allowed a total of 3 runs. After all of that, the final home game was a tight 5-3 loss.
What was the final result? An even split: 4 wins and 4 losses. So, the home stand was not all bad. It definitely had its moments. - Christian Trejo threw 6.1 scoreless innings against Game Prep to lead the A's to a 1-0 victory. - Drake Dowd threw 6 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts in the A's 11-1 victory against longtime rival VSA. - Jason Pimentel Jr. threw a 7-inning complete game shutout in the A's 10-0 win over VSA. - AJ Bekedam threw 5 innings while only allowing 1 run as the A's defeated the Bay Area Bombers 6-2. - Blake DeMaria was 7 for 21 at the plate during the home stand. Fresno finishes the season with a 3 game series against the Humboldt Crabs. The series will be played at the Crabs home field way up in Humboldt County, CA. Fresno looks to end the season on a high note, after a heart breaking loss to end their season last year against the Crabs. The series starts on July 28. First pitch is at 7 PM.

Our Fresno A's 18u team just completed the Pathway Baseball Event in Utah. The team played on various fields in and around Provo, Utah. They played 5 games in 4 days, and won 1 of these games. The competition was very tough and the team battled hard, winning an extra-inning game 9-5 against Juab High School, the reigning 3A Utah state champions.
On July 9, in a morning contest against the Madera A's, Drake Dowd threw a no-hitter for the Fresno A's. Dowd went 7 innings while allowing 0 runs on 0 hits with 8 strikeouts and only 2 walks. The lefty has been solid for Fresno all season and a stand-alone, marquee performance like this was always coming. The Fresno A's would win this game 11-0 over Madera at Chukchansi Park.
Roman Rosales has been named the Fresno A's Player of the Month for June. Roman has been the jack of all trades for Fresno this season. He has hit singles, doubles, triples, and home runs. He has been pitched around and then stolen bases. Defensively, he has played the outfield and the infield. Simply put, Roman Rosales has done it all for Fresno this season.
Tre Williams has been named the Fresno A's Pitcher of the Month for June. After a slow start, Tre has had a fantastic season. Just as he showed last year, the right-handed sidewinder can be trusted to perform at a high level during the biggest moments of games. He has gotten Fresno out of jams time after time, throughout the season. After a 5-game losing streak, the Fresno A’s have dug deep and found life as they have rattle off 3 straight wins in mid-June. After a tough trip to Redding in which the Colt 45’s swept the visiting Fresno A’s in three contests that were not exactly close finishes, Fresno played some slightly better baseball in their close losses to Team Victory at home. Then, after a day off on the 15th of June, Fresno came out with a vengeance as the A’s beat up on the San Francisco Force in a 21-6 victory. The A’s would complete the sweep of the Force with a 3-2 walk-off victory on the 17th of June, and follow up the next day with a 4-3 walk-off victory against long-time rival VSA on the 18th of June.
While everyone in the lineup hit in game 1 against the Force, game 2 was a very different story. Fresno trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the last inning in game 2 of the series before lighting up the score board for 3 runs and walking off the Force on a Roman Rosales gap shot into right-center field that plated both the tying and winning runs. Against VSA, the next morning, Fresno won a game that was so eerily similar to the day before that you could almost call it a sequel. Fresno was down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 9th and came back to win on a walk-off double to left-field off the bat of Cameron DeMaria. During the 3-game win streak, Roman Rosales has been on absolute tear, Tyler Smith has swung the bat well, and Cameron DeMaria has had some clutch extra-base hits. Jace Taylor, Jason Pimentel, and Drake Dowd all had solid starts during the 3-game win streak. Tre Williams and Austin Stover have also solidified roles in the Fresno bullpen. Brandon Dodd and Mike Rios have been solid defensively as well. The Fresno A’s will be back in action on Tuesday, June 20, against the Sacramento Yankees. The 2 teams will play a doubleheader starting at 1 PM at Chukchansi Park. Looking ahead, Fresno will also play on the 21st at home, and then the following week the A’s will have some promotional nights at the ballpark. On June 27, the A’s will host Cary Little League as little leaguers and their families will fill the stands! On June 28, the team will be hosting alumni day for all of the Fresno A’s players, coaches, and families that have been a part of the team’s rich history. We look forward to seeing you out at the park! After winning on opening day, Fresno really struggled to get the season off to a good start. Fresno has dropped 5 straight games after their opening day win over the SoCal Halos, and sits at 1-5 as they go into a very tough 2nd week of their season.
After winning game 1 of the series, the 2nd and final game of the series against the Halos was a bit peculiar. The game went to extra innings and in the bottom of the 10th inning, with 2 outs and Fresno trailing by one, the A's hit a ground ball to shortstop. The shortstop made a poor throw across the diamond that caused the 1st baseman to come off of the base and also clearly miss the ball. The base umpire took his eyes off of the play and refused to ask for help after calling the runner out. Neither team was sure if the game was actually over, so SoCal did not celebrate. Although Coach Hinojosa of the A's were clearly upset and in disagreement, the call stood without the ability to utilize video review. After this crazy moment, Fresno has not yet been able to get back on track. The real struggle for Fresno has been on the mound, as they have been able to put up enough runs to win in all but 2 of their first 6 games. Some outstanding performers thus far have been: Cameron DeMaria: AVG: 385, OBP: .667, OPS: 1.128 through 24 Plate Appearances Roman Rosales: 6 for 22, 2 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 5 R, 2 SB Tyler Smith: 5 for 13, 1 3B, 3 RBI Aidan Perry: 3 for 10, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2 BB Michael Mulligan: Apperances: 2 Innings Pitched: 5.2 Earned Runs: 1 Fresno Starts a big stretch tonight: June 3 - 4 PM - @ Petaluma Leghorns June 4 - 1 PM - @ Sonoma Stompers June 6 - 8 AM - vs. Merced Yammers June 7 - 8 AM - vs. Yammers June 8 - 7:15 PM - @ Redding Colt 45s June 9 - 7:15 PM - @ Redding Colt 45s June 10 - 7:15 PM - @ Redding Colt 45s June 11 - 6 PM - @ Redding Colt 45s The A's can definitely get back on the right track, they just need some quality starts and there should be no doubt this team will take off. The team is back in action tonight against the Petaluma Leghorns at Rancho Cotati High School at 4 PM. Aiden Rocha pitched through trouble throughout the day stranding Halo baserunners while Cameron DeMaria, Brayden Byrum, and Mike Rios led the Fresno offense to an 8-run outburst in an 8-3 victory over the SoCal Halos.
The scoring started in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Brayden Byrum led off with a double and later scored on an error by the Halo shortstop. However, the Halos struck back with a run of their own in the top of the 3rd on a sacrifice fly by Martinez to score Jesus. Fresno would answer in the bottom of the 3rd when Cameron DeMaria hit a 2-out single to right field to score Smith and regain the lead. The score remained a 2-1 Fresno lead until the bottom of the 6th inning when Blake DeMaria singled home his brother Cameron DeMaria, and then Mike Rios scored on an error to make the score 4-1 after 6 innings of play. In the top of the 7th Johnson would hit a 2-run triple for the Halos to cut the Fresno lead to 4-3. Fresno was able to get out of the 7th inning with the lead due to an inning-ending double play. Fresno would score 4 times in the bottom of the 8th to solidify their lead. The runs came on a Mike Rios double, a hit by pitch, a Roman Rosales sacrifice fly, and a wild pitch. Aiden Rocha earned the win while throwing 7 innings while allowing 3 runs (2 earned), striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing 4 hits. Tre Williams shut the door and recorded the save by throwing 2 scoreless innings in the 8th and 9th. Cameron DeMaria led the Fresno offense at the plate. He was 2-2 with a double, 1 RBI, 2 runs scored, a BB, and a HBP. Brayden Byrum was 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Mike Rios was 2-4 with a double, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored.
